There’s really no arguing over the fact that Aimee Song is one of the top players in the ever growing blogging industry. Bagging a lot of projects and collaborations from big brands, her latest big gig being the muse of SM Makati, there’s no question why this Korean beauty is one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list for 2016.
One of the things which, according to popular opinion, makes her stand out from the rest is her laid-back, super chill, super achievable outfits. Now don’t translate “achievable” as something common or regular… one of the real talents in dressing up is making a simple outfit look extra special and that, obviously, is one of Aimee’s many talents.
I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but I’m all about dressing chill too. Though lately I’ve added in a bit of an edgy-dressy vibe to my ensembles, I always find myself opting for an oversized sweatshirt and sneakers especially on lazy, cozy days.
I have to add in that Aimee’s kind of chill is another genre of style from mine, leaning more onto the girly and chic side. That doesn’t mean I don’t find myself going “oooh ahhh” on her OOTDs on Instagram. This girl is definitely an icon and a big fashion inspo.
To emphasize my point, I’ve compiled 7 of Aimee’s chill outfits that scream her L.A. native vibe. Fresh, I-really-don’t-care-i-know-i-look-effortlessly-cool-and-chic ensembles.
I know this outfit had something to do with Coachella, and boy was I surprised. The usual Coachella outfits I see both by celebs and bloggers alike, are usually that all out, accessory piled, ethereal bohemian goddess, or a really sexy, cowboy-isque look. Aimee went with none of those and stuck to her laidback self. All kaartehan aside, this was a really classy and streamlined look, a no fuss, no frills kind of outfit and honestly speaking, a practical one at that. I’ve been to music festivals myself and I honestly don’t know how the really dressed up people can put up with their outfits. Kidding, I actually know what they have to put up with because I’m one of those really dressed up people. Hahahahaha. It’s not easy, fam.
One of the crucial factors in creating an errand outfit is that it has to be comfortable without making you look lousy and this ensemble here is just the perfect example of that. This is especially appropriate for our current chilly weather.
Strangely when I saw this on Aimee’s feed, I immediately had a hunch that this was taken here, in the Philippines. Upon inspection of the text, I was right. Perhaps it’s true that each country really has their own aura that vibes through the photos.
Being a recent fan of overalls myself, I absolutely adore this fit. Imagine just throwing on one piece of loose, airy clothing, stuffing your feet on some equally fuss free footwear, accenting the whole look with a beautiful signature bag, & viola, you’re done and you look great without even trying.
I’m really looking forward for more overalls from my favorite brands and no, jumpers don’t count.
Need I say more? The fit, the color, contrasted by the polished shoes. This get up is both fresh, relaxed, and well put together.
This look is my favorite among the seven outfits I picked out. It’s both classy yet sexy and formal yet edgy. I love how the button down shirt is worn in a lopsided way, how it’s accessorized with playful chokers and rings, and finally, how it’s paired with a well fitted reworked denim. Another trend you need to keep your eyes on.
Another thing I like doing with my looks is contrasting different styles together. For example, Aimee wears this statement shirt and denim cutoffs ensemble that spells casual, street, and dressed down. Plot twist, she pairs it with a tribal printed bolero which spells bohemian, ethnic, dynamic. Definitely not your usual combo, right? Don’t be afraid to experiment and mix and match completely different pieces together.
I see some lamp-shading action here. Really love a good oversized denim jacket and booties combo. Dressing down with finesse. Slow clap for you, Aimee.
Style isn’t really just about what you wear, but how you wear it. You could be wearing the same piece other 100 people are wearing but if you carry it a certain way and stand out, then applause to you. Like I said, that’s a talent. Aimee does the same thing and has this youthful, energetic, and again, laid-back vibe wherever she is and with whatever it is she opts to wear. Last July 1 at SM Makati, though already previously announced, a press conference was held making Aimee officially the Muse of SM Makati. (what Ida, the gigantic billboards don’t make it official yet?? Haha). I could not think of a better fit for a shopping destination in the heart of an urban jungle, a go-to place for young yuppies and fashion forward city crawlers for all their sartorial needs.
What do you guys think about the outfits I picked out? Do you have any Aimee outfits that make you go, “Woah there, I’d totally wear that too!” Also, what are your thoughts about Aimee being SM Makati’s Muse?
