A lot of type of shoes have come and gone but as of now, I think it’s safe to safe that espadrilles will definitely be here to stay. Nothing says “I’d like to keep things casual and comfy while I savor every blissful moment of my life” like a pair of espadrilles do, yeah?
A guy named Nick Brown couldn’t find the perfect traditional rope soled espadrilles he had grown up wearing on holiday along the Spanish Coast. This is where Soludos came in. After all the searching, Nick decided to create his very own line of classic and not so classic espadrilles in New York back in 2014.
September 27, 2015 — Soludos partnered up with The Palace Pool Club during a special Sunday Social. A pop-up booth was set up showcasing Soludos’ wide variety of designs for their shoes. Special discounts were also given to the partygoers who tried their luck in the Spin The Wheel contest. I, on the other hand, was not very lucky, haha!
From the Spanish word “Esparto” which means grass, espadrilles is not just a trend laid-back people are opting to stomp with through their days. It goes way back centuries ago, where it was worn in the Pyrenees and along the Mediterranean. Breathable soles made with woven jute braids, Soludos simply updated the classic espadrille to fit more seamlessly into the city and beach life… and everything in between.
Lovely prints, quirky embellishments, and unexpected materials such as lace, leather, and metallic fabrics. Soludos made sure you’d have a lot of choices which you think would fit your personality best. I’m personally in love with my gold metallic espadrilles which I will post about soon (can’t wait)!
Mind you, big stars have also been spotted wearing these chic stompers namely: Glee’s Dianna Agron, Actress Kate Bosworth, Alison Williams from HBO’s Girls, Actor Josh Hartnett, Golden Globe nominee Emily Blunt, Golden Globe Winner Amy Adams, Academy Award winner Natalie Portman, and Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, just to name a few.
Soludos was first introduced to the Philippine Market by The Anthem Group, one of the Philippines’ fastest growing retailers, via footwear store Shoe Salon in December 2014. Soludos opened its first pop-up store at Glorietta 2 in April 2015. Soludos Shoes are available in Glorietta 2, Greenbelt 3, and TriNoMa.
