The title makes me a little uneasy to be honest, ‘cause I know this burger is considered as fast food, but what bothers me is that in no way does it taste like fast food at all.
Tokyo Tokyo just released the Sensei of all burgers, the Wagyu Cheeseburger, and my taste buds are bowing in honor of its premium taste.
How to eat a burger by Ida Anduyan
Before anything else, let me tell you why this burger is nothing like your regular fast food burger:
- By the name alone, yes, the patty is made of 100% Wagyu beef. Premium. Japanese. Beef. You won’t find this kind of beef in your usual fast food place, right?
- The burger’s beef is slathered with Tokyo Tokyo’s special sauce. It adds an eastern twist to this western favorite, with a little kick of spiciness. I hate spicy food, but I love this.
- To wrap this up (or in this case to wrap the patty, fresh lettuce, sliced cheese, and special sauce), everything is sandwiched to perfection in a soft, buttery brioche bun. It adds a whole new texture to the burger.
To be honest, the only reason this should be considered as fast food is because it’s affordable but other than that, it’s one of the best tasting premium burgers I’ve had. It kind of reminds me of Pound’s burgers, and those are like double (or triple) the price of the Wagyu Cheeseburger.
Tokyo Tokyo’s latest dish comes in three variants: The Wagyu Cheeseburger (160 Php), The Wagyu Double Cheeseburger (235 Php) that has two patties layered on the top of the fresh lettuce, cheese, and special sauce, and finally my personal favorite, the Wagyu Rising Sun (175 Php), which has an egg squeezed in between all the goodness.
Oh and you can choose from the many side dishes too! You’ll probably need to loosen your belt after this indulgence.
The Wagyu Cheeseburger will be available on March 20. Head straight to the nearest Tokyo Tokyo and treat yourself, yes?
